Non-Toxic Sunscreen

Last week I did a new thing.

I made my own non-toxic sunscreen taken from a Pinterest blog that my sister-in-law sent my way. Why? Because I love the freedom of being able to control what's in products that I put on my skin (and my family's skin!) Sunscreens from our grocery store or pharmacy have so many chemicals in them ---> oxybenzone to other endocrine-disrupting chemicals, nanoparticles, DEET (bug repellent sunscreens) & added chemical fragrances.

What is in the non-toxic sunscreen?

1 cup coconut oil

1/2 cup shea butter

1/4 beeswax

1/3 cup non-nano zinc oxide

10 drops lavender essential oil

How to make it:

Mix the coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax and non-nano zinc oxide together into a double boiler. Let the ingredients completely mix together ensuring that the beeswax has also completely melted. Remove from heat and add drops of lavender.

Pour into bottles such as these from Amazon! The ingredient amounts above will fit into 4 of these bottles! Keep all for yourself or giveaway to friends =)

Have fun!

And thank you to this blogger for sharing this recipe!
