Whether or not you enjoy gardening of any capacity, I hope that the words written in this blog bring your heart hope and joy. I hope that you walk away from reading this with a full assurance that God loves you deeply and wants to bring healing to your body, mind and heart.
I was listening to "God Is Able" by Elevation Worship as the blood transfusion started & life slowly came back to my body. I remember being overwhelmed with gratitude that I was finally getting what my body needed to not just survive but thrive. I remember the peace that I had experienced in the hospital even through the darkest valley. I knew my God was with me and He would not abandon me and my husband.
Fast forward to today.
Life never just "goes on" after a miscarriage. That's impossible. Our hearts will always ache for the babies that we never got to hold and raise here on earth. I will tell you, though, that the healing God provides in the deepest of valleys IS REAL. Do I understand the mysteries of the Lord that no one has an answer to? No. And I never will. What I understand so securely and confidently is that the presence of God is unlike anything I have experienced. The presence of God is why my heart did not grow bitter. The presence of God is why I can sing of His mercy and grace. The presence of God is what held me fast. The presence of God has truly given me life and healing.
I am not thankful to have walked through another miscarriage 3 months ago...and the trauma involved in that.
I AM thankful for how the trial and pain has brought me closer to the Lord.
I AM thankful for how it has tested the genuineness of my character.
I AM thankful for how the Lord used the short life of our daughter to bring us into a season of deep reflection.
I AM thankful for how I experienced the extravagant love of God through our family, friends and church community.
Healing has come.
And so much of it has come through my summer garden which has astounded me by its lusciousness.
Deuteronomy 11:10-14
"The land you are entering to take over is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you planted your seed and irrigated it by foot as in a vegetable garden. But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. It is a land the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end. So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul— then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil.
The Lord your God carefully tends to your heart - just like you tend to your garden. He delights in just being with you just like you enjoy being in your garden. The Lord is faithful to plant the seeds in your life that He will grow in due time...do not worry. He will rain on each and every seed in your heart so that abundance comes forth from your life to honor His name.
