Mama, you got this.

The essence of motherhood comes with a daily recognition that we can’t do this on our own. None of us have enough patience, stamina or creativity to be all our children need. We need Christ. Every single day.

"Mama, you got this!"

These words are still faithful to encourage me each day since Jedidiah was born. I'll never forget how my nurse coached my heart with the truth. July 3 was not only our son's birthday but in many ways, mine too. I believe this revelation is too complex to even explain through words. But...

Mama, you understand.

The day our babies are born is the day something new is also born within us. This something new is the woman within who will unashamedly do anything to nurture and protect her children. This something new is the woman who will ensure her children are loved all their days on this earth.

I want to use this moment in time, mama, to tell you, "You got this." I want to call forth the warrior woman you are...do NOT give up, whether it be having a hard conversation with your teenager or soothing your newborn or trying to connect with your pre-teens or letting go of your child who is now headed off to college.

From the moment our babies are born, are lives are completely changed; never to be the same again. With each stage, comes the apparent need to be adaptable. We must learn to change WITH the season and not fight against it.

Can you imagine a woman in labor fighting against her baby being born? What woman wouldn't want to hold her baby after such a long wait?

As with motherhood, we must learn to change with the seasons. We must learn to embrace everything from newborn growth spurts to our toddlers getting into everything to teenager puberty to having adult children.

Changing with the season is the only way to ensure that we ourselves are growing in our relationship with Christ as well as our relationship with our children. To resist would be stunting our own growth just as if a woman resisted pushing to birth her child.

Do not resist your own growth pains in motherhood. Welcome the Almighty One into them...and allow Him to continually birth something new within you.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not grow weak.
